Headache Journal CME

Headache, the official publication of the American Headache Society (AHS) is pleased to welcome you to Headache CME, our online-only, journal-based, continuing medical education (CME) feature. CME credit is awarded on an issue, rather than article basis. Utilizing a needs assessment process, two articles will be selected from an issue of Headache. These articles will be identified in the Table of Contents for each issue. Two multiple-choice questions will be posed online for each article.

Headache CME’s online site features the following:
  • Instant feedback on answers
  • Confirmed credit presented as a printable certificate upon completion of a quiz
  • A record of all credits is accumulated.
The overall program education objectives are:
  • The participant will read the articles and questions, discern their importance and consider the scientific, clinical, economic and ethical perspectives of contemporary headache medicine.
  • The participant will examine how this knowledge impacts her/his clinical practice. Specifically, the participants will review how this exercise has changed their understanding of physiologic and disease processes and will change clinical practice.

AHS is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to sponsor CME for physicians. AHS takes full responsibility for the content, quality and scientific integrity of this CME activity.

AHS designates each issue as a medical education activity for a maximum of one hour in Category I credit toward the American Medical Association (AMA) Physician’s Recognition Award. Each physician should claim only those hours of credit that he/she actually spent in the educational activity.

Please note: Headache CME is an online-only feature. No hard-copy submissions will be accepted. A printable certificate is available upon completion of the online test for your records. AHS will not be able to provide any hard copy certificates.

The Headache CME Editor is Jerry Swanson, MD. Dr Swanson is responsible for article selection and question development. He wishes to declare no conflicts of interest in the performance of his role.
